The USC Trojans are the early favorite to win the 2009 NCAA Bowl Championship Series title – and College Football betting fans can place their bets now at online sportsbooks.
BetUS has the Trojans as the top favorite at 3-1 odds, as does Bodog and Sportsbook.com.
USC entered last year’s Bowl season ranked No. 6 in the nation and routed No. 13 Illinois Illini 49-17 in the Rose Bowl.
Some College Football observers felt the Trojans deserved to be in the BCS National Championship game and their dominance in the Rose Bowl backed up those feelings. The 49 points tied a record, and the blowout gave the Trojans 11 wins (11-2) for an unprecedented sixth straight season. USC also set a Rose Bowl record with 633 yards on offense, 170 of them coming from freshman tailback Joe McKnight.
But it was the No. 2 LSU Tigers taking on the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes in the 2008 BCS title game, which the Tigers won 38-24. Both BetUS and Bodog have LSU at 12-1 to win the BCS Championship, while Sportsbook.com has the Tigers at +1000.
It was Ohio State’s second consecutive BCS Championship loss, having lost the 2007 title game 41-14 to the Florida Gators.
The Buckeyes are 6-1 at Bodog, 7-1 at Sportsbook.com, and +1000 at BetUS to get it right next season.
The Gators are expected to field a strong team next season, and Bodog, BetUS and Sportsbook.com all have Florida at 6-1 odds. Last season, No. 12 Florida lost 41-35 to the Michigan Wolverines in the Capital One Bowl.
The Georgia Bulldogs are another top pick, at 6-1 at Bodog, 7-1 at Sportsbook.com, and +900 at BetUS. The No. 5 Bulldogs beat previously unbeaten Hawaii Warriors 41-10 in the Allstate Sugar Bowl last season.
