This year’s FedEx Orange Bowl Championships gets under way with the Virginia Tech Hokies taking on the Kansas Jayhawks, at Dolphin Stadium, to see who the next FedEx Bowl Champion becomes.
The Jayhawks are in deep trouble going up against the Hokies killer defense and high powered offense. The Hokies are the fifth best team in the league at shutting down the rush compared to the Jayhawks 28th ranked running game. They allow the second least amount of points per game and they have the fifth best total yards average. The Hokies offense has opted to run a two QB system between QB Tyrod Taylor and QB Sean Glennon, who’ve combined for 16 TD passes. The Jayhawks QB Todd Reesing, WR Dexton Fields and Marcus Henry combined for the 14th best offense in the league, but they’ll have to watch out for the Hokies CB Victor Harris and CB Brandon Flowers, the best cornerbacks in the country. It could get ugly if the Jayhawks don’t get a handle on it early.
