The 2008 Rose Bowl gets under way with the University of Southern California Trojans battling it out with the Illinois Fighting Illini at Rose Bowl Stadium, in Pasadena California.
The Fighting Illini will put their explosive offense up against the Trojans solid defense. The Illini like to run a spread offense, utilizing all players on the field. QB Juice Williams has 13 TD passes and they have the Big Ten’s second leading rusher RB Rashard Mendenhall, who has 17 TD. Their running game is ranked 5th best. The Trojans have the best set of defensive lineman in all of NCAA Football and their ALL healthy. Their defense is ranked in the Top 10 in Total yards allowed, Pass yards allowed, Rush yards allowed and Total points allowed. They don’t let their opponents do anything. Although they were beaten by the Oregon Ducks who like to use the spread offense, like the Illini use. Their offense is average with their wide receivers but their TE Fred Davis, USC MVP, has been QB John Davis Booty’s saving grace. Booty has 20 TD for 2,096 YDS. Can you say “Bombs away!”
